Post-Offer Employment Testing focuses on determining whether an individual is physically capable of performing a specific job to proactively minimize the risk of injury. Pre-Work Screens have also been called Physical Abilities Tests, Pre-Placement Tests, Fitness for Duty Tests, Physical Demands Tests, and Worker Selection Tests.
PWS is a functional test to determine an individual’s ability to safely perform the physical requirements of a specific job. The PWS is used at the time of hire, post-offer/pre-hire. These tests detect employees who have pre-existing conditions and/or are unable to perform relevant job-specific activities. Pre-Work Screens can be catered to specific job positions based on the Functional Job Analysis (Job Description). The PWS requires applicants to perform functional tasks that replicate the job requirements.
